We are starting our periodical news digest related to the efforts of Smart Holding and Vadym Novynsky Foundation to strengthen the defence capabilities of our country and the implementation of humanitarian projects:

- As previously reported, Veres in collaboration with MHP continues producing canned meat for our soldiers. More information in our previous news.
- Our quarries provide sifting for fortified constructions.
- Almost all shopping centres are open, except Melitopol, Severodonetsk and Mariupol, where there is no heat or electricity. Heavy fights are raging in Mariupol. Working shopping centres are critical for the civilian population.
- We provide accommodation facilities in our hotels to Ukrainian Armed Forces.
- Shipyards produce anti-tank hedgehogs. In Mykolaiv, the shipyard provides all possible assistance to the territorial defence with sand and metal.

Vadym Novynskyi Foundation is purchasing medicines for the victims of the shelling, in Mariupol hospitals. This has summed up to more than 7 million hryvnias.
In total, the Foundation will allocate UAH 150 million for humanitarian and charitable projects at the first stage.
Yet, this is just the beginning of a large-scale assistance: the Foundation's staff are now identifying the hottest spots where assistance is needed.

Smart Holding has paid its employees in advance for February, understanding the complexity of the situation. And we will continue paying, will do everything possible to support employees in this difficult time.

Metinvest has its own large program of assistance to civilians, cities and the Armed Forces. Follow the link to read their news https://t.me/metinvest or on the official website.

The State Budget of Ukraine Received 41% Less Taxes from Smart Holding in the First 9 Months of 2025
As of January–September 2025, the Group’s companies paid 543 million UAH in taxes, which is 41% less than in the same period last year (915 million UAH). This reduction occurred, among other reasons, due to increased government pressure and the blocking of gas production assets of the publicly listed British company Enwell Energy.

Ukraine imports gas, while blocking its own fields
Ukraine has gas, but cannot produce it. Not because of the war. Not because of missiles. Due to the decisions of state bodies.

We need to distinguish sanctions against individuals and the work of enterprises operating in Ukraine, paying taxes and supporting energy independence
Today, the Ukrainian energy sector lives between two realities: On the one hand, there is an urgent need for its own gas, on the other hand, there are legal norms that actually stop those who can provide this resource.
