Speaking at the Business Protection Forum, Lada Konduforova, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of SMART-HOLDING, noted that today businesses face two threats. The first one is competition. This is a normal threat that stimulates development. The second threat is the government authorities, which is not normal phenomenon for a state governed by the rule of law.
At the same time, Ms Konduforova pointed out that it would be possible to talk about positive changes for doing business only when business is stimulated rather than protected. So far, business has been standing on the defensive and could not develop normally.

As of January–September 2025, the Group’s companies paid 543 million UAH in taxes, which is 41% less than in the same period last year (915 million UAH). This reduction occurred, among other reasons, due to increased government pressure and the blocking of gas production assets of the publicly listed British company Enwell Energy.
