Career as a football player:

• FC Bazhanovets (Makeevka), FC Shakhtar (Donetsk), FC Rotor (Volgograd), FC Vorskla (Poltava), FC Sokol (Saratov).
• Player of the national football team of Ukraine.
• Participated in 216 matches in the championships of Ukraine, scored 47 goals.
• Three-time silver medallist of the Championship of Ukraine of 1993/1994, 1997/1998 and 1998/1999 seasons.
• Two-time winner of the Cup of Ukraine in 1995 and 1997.
• Bronze medallist of the Championship of Russia in 1996.

Career as a coach:

• 2002-2009 – selection coach at FC Shakhtar, Donetsk;
• 2009-2010 – coach at FC Zarya, Lugansk;
• 2011 – coach at FC Illichivets, Mariupol;
• 2012 – selection coach at FC Shakhtar, Donetsk;
• 2013 (spring) – coach of the youth team of FC Shakhtar, Donetsk;
• 2013 (summer) – coach of the youth team of FC Sevastopol;
• On 20 August, Gennadiy Orbu took the lead of the first team of FC Sevastopol as acting head coach. He led the first team of FC Sevastopol during five matches in the Premier League in his capacity as the acting head coach. The team scored 8 points in these matches.
