Vin-Pellet biofuel pellet plant (Turbov village, Vinnitsa region) won the competition Best Buildings and Facilities Constructed in Ukraine in 2013 held annually by the State Architectural and Construction Inspectorate of Ukraine under the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services. The enterprise took the first place in the Industrial Enterprises and Production Facilities nomination.

Construction of the plant with an annual capacity of 150,000 tonnes continued from May 2011 to February 2013. So far, the first stage with a 75,000 tonnes a year capacity has been fully commissioned. The total area of all the plant’s buildings and facilities amounts to 6,929 square meters, including 3,183 square metres of production areas. The plant’s logistical potential makes it unique. The production site has a convenient transport junction: a motor highway runs nearby, and a separate railway line connects directly to the site. The facility is practically self-reliant. Its construction employed the newest design solutions and high-quality materials.

The plant is equipped with up-to-date equipment supplied by Amandus Kahl (Germany), the world’s leading manufacturer of production lines for similar enterprises. The facility uses straw remaining from agricultural crops as the raw material to produce fuel pellets. The straw is prepared and supplied under the respective agreements with crop-growers located in the nearby districts of Vinnitsa region.

The investments in the plant’s first stage and procurement of the vehicles for delivery of the raw material exceeded UAH 200 million. The plant employs more than 150 people.

Vin-Pellet is a pilot project of Smart-Holding in renewable energy sector. Given the implementation of the government programs to stimulate domestic consumption of renewable energy, this experience is planned to be replicated in other agrarian regions of the country.

Why Cyprus' EU presidency is important for Ukraine's future
Andreas Sophocleus, trust manager of Smart Holding and founder of the Kepaky charitable foundation, emphasizes that investors are ready to work in Ukraine, invest and create jobs even during the war. But they need something that no company can provide on its own — political and regulatory stability. And this must be implemented already, and not wait for better times.

The State Budget of Ukraine Received 41% Less Taxes from Smart Holding in the First 9 Months of 2025
As of January–September 2025, the Group’s companies paid 543 million UAH in taxes, which is 41% less than in the same period last year (915 million UAH). This reduction occurred, among other reasons, due to increased government pressure and the blocking of gas production assets of the publicly listed British company Enwell Energy.

Ukraine imports gas, while blocking its own fields
Ukraine has gas, but cannot produce it. Not because of the war. Not because of missiles. Due to the decisions of state bodies.
